ABSTRACT
Heavy vaginal bleeding can occur at any age and may present as an acute emergency. Complications of pregnancy should always be considered and excluded. This may be the first presenting symptom of malignancy. The main action plan below reviews the general approach to emergency management of heavy vaginal bleeding. Thereafter, mini-action plans are given describing management of some specific problems which are not covered in other parts of this book.
