ABSTRACT
Risk management is essential for safe gynaecological practice. Litigation against Trust doctors and nurses has increased dramatically as have complaints about all aspects of medical care. Medical staff of all grades should belong to a medical defence organization. Many cases are now settled on a no blame basis to avoid the cost of going to court even with cases which at first sight seem eminently defensible.
