ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a simulation game for students to practice the supply chain management skills they acquired. Each student will operate one of the eight companies and interact with others to establish a supply chain. Once all the sales contracts are negotiated and all the aggregate plans are finalized, the supply chain operation can be simulated given “actual” demand at the retailers. The aggregate plan includes the production level and number of workers for each month. An aggregate plan must be feasible, that is, the number of workers must be sufficient to meet the production level. The simulation game requires the participation of eight companies with different levels of workload. For a large class, multiple supply chains can be formed, each involving the same eight companies and using the same data. After a company finalizes all the sales contracts and makes all relevant decisions, it is ready to calculate its profit.
