ABSTRACT
In Chapter 4, we used separation of variables and Fourier series to solve PDEs on finite intervals. Then, in Sections 5.3 and 5.4, we solved the wave equation on unbounded intervals using the method of characteristics. An obvious question is, how do we solve more general PDEs on unbounded intervals?
