ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with the design and operation of a uidized bed gasi- cation system. Design steps include selecting a biomass fuel, determining the gasier’s dimensions, selecting the bed material, specifying the series cyclone system, and making provisions for char removal. The proper way to burn low caloric value gas will also be discussed, to ensure that the NOx and SOx concentrations are below their permitted operating limits. Finally, various ways to utilize synthesis gas and other coproducts will be discussed.
