There is an array of other arthropods that can be of veterinary importance associated with livestock production and/or the health and well-being of companion animals. Some species have a direct impact on animals (e.g., fire ants, bed bugs, blister beetles), some may be detrimental to production practices (e.g., wood-destroying beetles), and some are considered beneficial and are often used as viable components of integrated pest management programs (e.g., dung beetles, predatory beetles, certain species of parasitic wasps). Included here are selected insect groups that may be encountered in conjunction with livestock and companion animals.
