ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND: EUROPE IN THE EARLY CRETACEOUS The background to the Cretaceous Period was outlined in Chapter 14, The Jehol Group. In this and the following chapter (15 and 16), we look at more early Cretaceous sites around the world, and in both chapters we actually include two Lagerstätten close to each other in space and time. First, we look at the Konservat-Lagerstätten of El Montsec and Las Hoyas from northeastern Spain.
