ABSTRACT

What sequence of numbers begins with 2, 3, 5, 7? For us, the ¤rst thing that comes to mind is the prime numbers. And that is a correct answer, but certainly not the only correct answer. If you consult the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (oeis.org), which was compiled by the mathematician Neil J. A. Sloane at the legendary Bell Labs, you will ¤nd 1984 sequences that start this way (as of March 2013).
