ABSTRACT
Primary myocardial disease (idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy) is an important cause of heart failure in large breed dogs. Secondary and infective causes of myocardial disease are documented less often. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is rare in dogs.
