ABSTRACT

The dental follicle is the fibrocellular layer surrounding the dental papilla and dental organ (136). Some of these cells migrate peripherally to form alveolar bone. As the root sheath fragments, ectomesenchymal cells of the dental follicle migrate through these spaces and contact dentin. This contact induces them to transform into cementoblasts. Other cells form collagen bundles and produce the PDL. Collagen fiber bundles are imbedded in the cementum on the tooth and in alveolar bone at their other attachment.
