ABSTRACT

Potential complications of tissue adhesives include wound infection, fistulation, dehiscence, tissue toxicity, granuloma formation and delayed healing. These complications are more likely to occur if the tissue is ischemic, contaminated, infected or otherwise compromised. If tissue is compromised to the point that it will not heal with sutures, it will not heal with tissue adhesives. Discomfort to the pet may result from the presence of foreign material in a wound located on weight-bearing surfaces such as feline declaw wounds. Lameness had been reported after adhesive use for feline declaw.
