ABSTRACT

In the manufacturing environment, sensors are frequently involved in the general areas of qualification, control and monitoring. [1] Qualification is a procedural function, where the results of an operation are inspected to be sure that they meet the necessary requirements or tolerances. Qualification activities usually bring about monitoring guidelines or control requirements which direct some action that is taken as a result of the data obtained in the inspection process. Some typical qualification tasks include leak detection, dimensional measurements, determination of mechanical or electrical properties, alignment checking, go/no go functionality and color differentiation.
