ABSTRACT
Many, if not most, of the mathematical card effects popularized over the decades depend on nothing fancier than addition and subtraction, cleverly dressed up to hide that fact. As such, their inner workings are not hard to figure out for those with a little background in mathematics. Here, we present a selection of more recent addition-and subtraction-based effects that may surprise and amuse.
