ABSTRACT

Cancer is one of the major causes of mortality in the United States and other developed countries (WHO 2011; Xu 2010). In 1975, approximately 400 cases of age-adjusted cancer incidences per 100,000 people were reported in the United States. The rates of cancer incidence in the United States per 100,000 people in 1985, 1995, and 2005 were approximately 450, 475, and 465, respectively (Jemal et al. 2009). Although signicant progress has been made in the diagnosis and treatment of human cancers, these malignancies remain a signicant threat to human health.
