ABSTRACT
In some studies, the questions of scientific interest can be addressed without specifying a parametric model for the data. A venerable, and generic, example is design-based inference for randomised experiments, which dates back at least to the early work of R. A. Fisher at Rothamsted; see, for example, Fisher, R.A. (1925, 1935).
