ABSTRACT

In the previous chapters we utilized the principles of Lean to create a visual process of creating innovation for customers. This focused on activities that maximized value and minimized waste for customers and companies. We created a process and included the steps so that any company can transform its current strategy to an optimum strategy. In that process, we generated a series of ideas and filtered them to define a theme. Finally, after final ranking and filtering, we displayed a new and unique strategy on a future state visual strategy map. In our example, it was very easy to define the theme of the new strategy, as many of the offering ideas were consistent with a single theme. The question that remains to be answered is, how can the optimum theme be chosen for the new strategy when several possible themes arise from the idea generation phase? How can managers ensure that ideas align to the capabilities of the company? Finally, how can decision makers determine what the goals of the company are so that optimum themes are created and ultimately chosen?
