ABSTRACT
The rules of procedure covering meetings are based on English parliamentary procedures and in detail are com plex.26’33 In that a chairman needs to be familiar with the rules of procedure and should apply them effectively, his job is not an easy one. However, most of the meetings that the average scientist or engineer is concerned with are not held rigidly within these rules. Motions are rarely put in a formal way and most decisions are reached without a formal vote.
