ABSTRACT
Thermodynamics literally means “the force of heat.” The thermodynamics of microbial growth is, thus, clearly intimately linked to the measurable phenomenon of heat dissipation. Understanding the thermodynamics of microbial growth, thus, clearly implies studying, among other things, why growing microbial cultures generate heat and dissipate Gibbs energy and how much.
