ABSTRACT

In May 1988, I was working as a research assistant for Dr. Paul Hebert at the Great Lakes Institute at the University of Windsor, in Windsor, Ontario. I had just graduated from the University of Guelph and was hired for a 1-year position funded by the Environmental Youth Corps Program of the Ontario Ministry of Environment. My initial task was to establish some research sites for Dr. Lawrence Weider who was not yet at the university, but would be arriving later on in June or July. His research would focus on the genetics of benthic communities with an emphasis on tubicid worms.
