ABSTRACT
First-generation biofeedstocks have been introduced in Chapter 1. They mainly comprise sugar/starch crops and vegetable oil. In this section, the main feedstocks – sugarcane for sugar source, cereal grains for starch source, and vegetable oil – are described, their quantities produced worldwide are given, and their main chemical features are analyzed.
