ABSTRACT
The specificity of most drug actions suggests a bond formation between the drug and some cellular constituent, generally referred to as a receptor. Drugreceptor interactions may initiate responses by altering the permeability of membranes, by interfering with carrier mechanisms, by modifying templates, or by acting on enzymes.
