In the medical applications, one of the basic features of a thermal image is its axis symmetry of temperature patterns. e human body and its thermal pattern are symmetric in most of the physiological cases, while they are usually asymmetric in the pathological conditions. However, sometimes a signi- cant asymmetry can indicate the physiologic abnormality as well. ermal asymmetry may correspond to pathology, including cancer, brocystic diseases, an infection (see Figure 36.2) or a vascular disease or it might indicate an anatomical variant [1,2,11,12,16]. This makes the difficulty to achieve the high eciency of the image classications and screening and it is the main reason that the researchers are still looking for the new effective methods of image processing for medical applications.
