ABSTRACT
Text summarization (TS) has become the subject of intensive research in the last few years due to the explosion of the amount of textual information available and it is still an emerging fi eld (Orasan 2006, Radev et al. 2002). A volume of papers edited by I. Mani and M. Maybury in 1999, a book of I. Mani in 2001, a Special Issue on Summarization of Computational Linguistics Journal (Radev et al. 2002), some special chapters in more recent handbooks, and a large number of tutorials and PhD theses provide good introductions and support to this fast evolving fi eld.
