ABSTRACT
We will use the opportunity provided by access to transcripts of professional so ware design activity to illustrate a normative model of design conversation, comparing the model to what happens in a particular design conversation. Our goal is to provide a normative process theory for design that might be used to improve the training of so ware designers.
