ABSTRACT

A representation of a design space is one of the explicit textual or graphical forms in which a particular design space-or one of its subspaces-may be rendered.

Intuitively, a design space is a discrete Cartesian space in which the dimensions correspond to the design decisions, the values on each dimension are the choices for the corresponding decision, and points in the space correspond to complete design solutions. A design method provides a strategy for locating good solution points or regions of the space that are likely to be rich in good solutions.
