ABSTRACT

Before we can get to the reconstruction of the collision phase of the crash, we first have to reconstruct the post-collision phase-the run-out trajectory or trajectories of the vehicles involved. By these terms, we mean the path taken be the center of mass, or CG, of each of the involved vehicles. It is our task to describe each trajectory in enough detail to permit the calculation of the tire forces, as described in Chapter 2, so that we can find out how quickly each vehicle slowed down.
