RECOGNIZING THE POINT OF FAILURE The moment you realize that an attack is under way, you have reached the “point of failure” (POF). When a bomb explodes, terrorists storm a building, an airplane crashes, or a person is abducted, you have failed in the mission of detection and defense. Everything from this point on is just a response to the terrorists’ plan, and no matter what the end result is, the terrorist holds the initiative thereon.
