ABSTRACT

Polymer foams, among polymers in film, sheet, or molded forms, have been widely used for packaging, which generates a large amount of household waste that is difficult to collect and to recycle (Cinelli et al., 2006; Zhou, Song, and Parker, 2006). On the other hand, there has been increasing interest in the research and development of starch-based materials to provide biodegradable alternatives for packaging, because starch is obtained from renewable resources, is low cost, and is abundant.
