ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses and compares the theories that are used in the remainder of this book to calculate the properties of the emission from the Schottky emitter surface. These properties are the current density and energy distribution of the emitted electrons as a function of the temperature, work function, and Fermi energy of the emitting material, and the field strength that is applied. The main reference work is the first chapter of the book by Modinos (1984).
