ABSTRACT
Because most chromatographers doing drug analyses today will be using commercially available precoated thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and high-performance TLC (HPTLC) plates, this chapter will only cover the available varieties of these plates. Using precoated plates saves considerable time and gives more reproducible results. A few bulk sorbents are available commercially for preparing homemade plates, but because of the time, cost, and experience needed to produce them reproducibly, these will not be discussed.
