ABSTRACT
The purpose of cross-sectional classification is to examine whether their bending resistance may be determined by elastic or plastic analysis and whether their walls are subjected to local buckling so that additional verifications to plate buckling according to Chapter 8 will be required. Four classes of cross sections are distinguished as indicated in Table 9.1:
Class 1: Sections develop their plastic bending resistance and have sufficient rotation capacity.
