ABSTRACT
When faced with the challenge of analyzing a sample with a microscope, the obvious question is how to set up a microscope to achieve the required result. Different applications require different set ups. Three fundamental requirements must be addressed. These are magnification, resolution, and contrast. To achieve the best performance from our system (the microscope), we must understand its basic parts and how each of these parts interacts with light.
