ABSTRACT
At present, specification of loess defines to adopt formula (1) to obtain calculated value (Δzs) of selfweight collapse settlement, namely to adjust the calculated value by correction coefficient β0 based on loess region, it is observed from the findings in insitu immersion test in recent years that there still has been much difference between measured value and calculated value, taking two extreme examples, for the first example, it is observed from the test result in Huayin of Shaanxi Province that the measured value is much higher than calculated value, the former being 3.46 times the latter, for the second example, the calculated value of self-weight collapse settlement is about 230 mm, but the measured value of self-weight collapse settlement in in-situ immersion test in Shenhe Tableland of Xi’an is slight uplift.
