ABSTRACT

Building improvement capacity, the seventh Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Leadership Leverage Point1 requires health care systems to be technically capable of making, sustaining, and spreading improvements across facilities, and to take a proactive approach to doing so. For quality initiatives to change the culture of the organization, infrastructure and resources must be dedicated to their implementation and spread. Within BHCS, this is the role of the STEEEP Care Operations Department. This group connects departments, facilities, and service lines to implement and disseminate initiatives to achieve STEEEP care. It defines a proactive approach as “doing the right thing” rather than merely preventing the wrong thing from occurring.
