Practical Applications of Statistics to Support Decommissioning Activities

This chapter deals with the application of statistics-with an emphasis on statistical tests related to decommissioning activities. Most decommissioning activities either require the use of statistics or would be greatly facilitated by the use of statistics. Examples of decommissioning activities that require some level of statistics include site characterization, nal status surveys, and comparisons of data sets with regulators. Of course, the eective use of the MARSSIM requires at least a basic understanding of statistics, and in particular, a working knowledge of statistical hypothesis testing.
