ABSTRACT

Introduction Monitoring CBR compliance processes involves reviews and audits. Corrective action feeds back through the systems approach to the problem identification and problem solution processes. Reviews and audits for coding, billing, documentation, and reimbursement functions can be formally designed with tight objectives and outcomes. At the other end of the spectrum are CBR review and audit activities that are informal in nature and smaller in scale. These reviews and audits involve small samplings for audits and/or informal reviews of specific situations. Monitoring activities are intended to ensure that changes put into place through compliance policies and procedures are indeed working and look for current or developing problem areas.
