ABSTRACT

There are four broad sectors to an economy: residential, commercial, transportation, and industrial. We describe generically important technologies that each sector uses, with an eye towards determining which ones, if any, can make a substantial difference in the energy future. We use here the more customary SI units for energy, and we give equivalences to the units of Chapter 3: 1 EJ = 0.024 btoe; 1 MJ = 2.38·10−5 toe.
