ABSTRACT

A simple example for such a system is a cruise control system shown in Figure 14.2. In this case, the required speed, r(t), is set by the user; y(t) is the actual vehicle’s speed, and in order to determine the error, e(t), the vehicle’s speed is obtained from a sensor located inside the transmission. The error is being used by the controller to determine the required amount of fuel, u(t), needed to maintain the required speed under unexpected loads, d(t), exerted by the varying slope of the road and the wind, for example.
