Urban Water Drainage System book
Urban water drainage systems are one of the key infrastructures in urban areas and play an important role in people’s health and safety. The appropriate operation of these systems is related to their design and operation. The urban poor are affected the most by problems related to poor drainage in cities of developing countries. Low-value marginal land that is prone to flooding, or steep-sided hillsides, is often inhabited by poor communities that are unattractive for improvement. Although the consequences of flooding can be destructive, generally, the disadvantages of the substandard drainage system are balanced by the benefits of living near sources of employment and urban services (Parkinson, 2002).
