ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with the transfer of radiation in a dusty medium. The photons that an observer picks up when looking at a source do not reach the telescope on a straight path, but have usually been scattered, absorbed and reemitted. To extract from the data as much information as possible about the source, one has to understand how the photons propagate.
