ABSTRACT
During the period from 1929 to 1936, a number of cross sections were calculated to lowest order in powers of α for various electrodynamic processes, such as those shown in figures 8.1 and 8.2. These lowest-order calculations gave finite results in reasonable agreement with the experimental data. The successful agreement with measurements demonstrated the calculational power and practicality of the theory of quantum electrodynamics.
