ABSTRACT

What is an experiment? What are the requirements for a good experiment? These are appropriate questions to ask at the beginning of this study of “Design and Analysis of Experiments.” Answers to these crucial questions will help us understand how to perform good experiments. To perform experiments to study a process, we need the right combinations of tools (experimental and analysis tools). If we use the right tools, our methods will be right, and our analysis will be accurate, leading us to make valid deductions. The use of tools, which we have described in this chapter and intend to discuss in the rest of the text, should enable us to be more informed about the processes we investigate.
