ABSTRACT

In Chapter 2, we discussed regression approaches to the one-way experimental layout. We defined a set of dummy variables and used it in a regression model to explain the responses in a one-way layout in terms of the factor (the explanatory variable) in the design. The model helped us to analyze the responses of the design. To obtain a similar regression model for a twoway layout, we need to define two sets of dummy variables. The two sets of dummy variables could also be defined using (1) the effects coding or (2) the reference cell methods. We have already demonstrated how both methods work when we developed the regression model for the one-way layout.
