ABSTRACT
Technology cannot replace poor communication; in fact, effective communication is one of the most critical elements of a virtual team. Communication is moving away from the point-to-point, face-to-face communication of the past. Face-to-face communication is being replaced by different methods of communication. Telephones and electronic mail have replaced face-to-face communication with regard to passing along stories that support organizational lore. These methods of communication are informal and more readily simulate an oral mode of communication.
