ABSTRACT

Trust, like respect, is not given but earned. Trust takes time, patience, and consistency. Even if you are trusted a majority of the time, the one time that you do something untrustworthy, your trust will be severely compromised. As a leader, people listen and watch closely. Speaking about what you want to do and actually doing what you said you were going to do, go hand in hand. Being ethical in all situations automatically gains trust, because you are doing the right thing. It is important to always do the right thing even when nobody is watching. Once this becomes a habit, people will see that being ethical is a norm and not just a trait you want people to perceive in you. Trusting yourself also gains trust from others because the positive aura is passed along.
