ABSTRACT
The water-soluble vitamins consist of a mixed group of chemical compounds. Their classification into specific chemical groups depends on both chemical characteristics and functions. The letter designations (vitamins B1, B2, B3, etc., C) represent in part remnants from the past as the discovery of given dietary growth or curative factors were given letter designations.
