ABSTRACT
Ensuring that medical devices and their components and materials are biocompatible is an essential element of any design control program. Biocompatibility is generally determined by using tests that answer two fundamental questions:
1. Is the material safe? 2. Does it have the necessary physical and mechanical properties for its
proposed function?
