ABSTRACT
We prove here the Quadratic Reciprocity Law of Gauss. This is one of the most powerful (and mysterious) theorems in elementary number theory; much of the number theory after Gauss was motivated by the attempt to “understand” and generalize this theorem. Cf. work of Eisenstein, Kummer, Hilbert, Artin, Tate, and many others.
