ABSTRACT
Two aspects of water requirements need to be considered, quantity and quality. The quantity of water required is one of the factors which determine the size of a storage (see Section 1). Other factors include:
• losses from the storage; • practical limits on the size set by topography and materials; • probable volumes of run-off or pumped inflow available; and • cost limits set by available finance.
