ABSTRACT

Night markets are generally known as Pasar Malam in Malaysia and Indonesia. “Pasar malam” is a Malay and Indonesian word that literally means night market, “pasar” being related to “bazaar” in Persian (Nor, Khusiah and Rohaizah, 2011). Meanwhile, Lee, Chang, Hou and Lin, (2008) defined night market as street markets operating during night time mainly in urban and suburban areas that generally tend to have more leisure, shopping and eating areas. Night markets in Malaysia are a common destination among locals and it can be found in almost all small towns and cities in every state (Khursiah and Yeng, 2011). Additionally, (Huang, Liau and Tzeng, 2009), define night market as a trading place comprising of small businesses gathered together during evening and offers a variety of products and food to visitors.
